Respond to an organisation invitation

Accept or decline your own pending invitation to Harbor Demo Group from Notifications. Accepting joins the organisation and can also accept pending invitations for Harbor Soho and Harbor Borough; declining removes the pending organisation invitation and related pending location invitations.

Organisation invitations are answered from the signed-in user's notification panel. The app uses the organisation id from the notification and never asks for another user's id, so this is a personal access flow rather than an administrator action.

In the GB demo, the invitation appears for Harbor Demo Group. After a successful response, the visible result comes from refreshed notifications, organisations and locations because the API returns 204 No Content.

Before you start

  • You must be signed in with a valid app session.
  • A pending organisation membership must already exist for the signed-in user and Harbor Demo Group.
  • Notifications only show this action when an organisation invitation notification exists for the signed-in user.
  • If pending location invitations exist under Harbor Demo Group, they are handled automatically when the organisation invitation is accepted or declined.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open Notifications

    Open the user account or header menu and choose Notifications. The list loads your pending notifications, including organisation invitations when they exist.

    Review the invitation

    Find the Harbor Demo Group invitation. The notification offers View, Accept and Reject actions, and the response uses the organisation id from this notification.

    Accept the invitation

    Choose Accept, then confirm the accept invitation dialog. The app sends status accepted, removes the invitation notification after success, refreshes your organisations and also accepts pending Harbor Soho or Harbor Borough location invitations under the same organisation.

    Reject the invitation

    Choose Reject, then confirm the reject invitation dialog. If the organisation membership is still pending, the app removes it together with pending location invitations under Harbor Demo Group.

  5. 5.

    Check the result

    Return to Notifications and your organisation or location context. The invitation should be gone after either response; accepted organisation and location access appears after the app refreshes its data.

Validations and limits

  • Only the signed-in user's own invitation can be answered from this flow.
  • The route segment is implemented as orgId, even if older documentation calls it orgMembershipId.
  • The request body only uses status, with accepted or rejected as supported values.
  • Rejected is not stored as a membership status; pending membership rows are removed instead.
  • The API returns 204 No Content, so the user sees the result through refreshed app data.
  • If the response fails, the confirmation closes and this component does not show a dedicated error message.

Expected result

The Harbor Demo Group invitation is consumed. Accepting activates the organisation membership and any pending invited locations under it; declining removes the pending organisation and related pending location invitations.
