Enable or Disable Public Booking
Open or close the public booking channel for the selected location. In the GB demo runtime, use Harbor Demo Group > Harbor Soho.
In this article
The Public web settings page controls whether a location accepts reservations from its public booking website. It is the operational switch for opening or closing the guest-facing channel without changing the booking link or QR code.
This setting only controls publication. Guests can complete bookings only when automatic reservations are available for the location and the backend public booking rules are satisfied.
Before you start
- You are signed in and working in the correct organisation and location, for example Harbor Demo Group > Harbor Soho.
- The location can be loaded in the app.
- The Public web tab is available only when automatic reservations are available for the location.
- You need `location:view` to read the settings and `location:manage` to change the switch. With view-only access, the switch is disabled.
Instructions
- 1.
Open Public web settings
Open Reservations settings for the location and select the Public web tab. The direct route is `/:orgId/:locationId/location/optimization-configs?tab=public-booking`. If the location cannot use automatic reservations, the tab is hidden and the app returns to Optimizer.
- 2.
Check Publication status
Read the badge in Publication status. Enabled means the public booking channel is open. Disabled means the channel is closed. The Public URL and Reservation QR can still be visible while disabled, but guests cannot complete bookings from them until publication is enabled.
- 3.
Change the switch
Use Accept reservations from the website to enable or disable public reservations. The save is immediate and there is no confirmation dialog. While saving, the switch is locked. On success, the page shows Website enabled or Website disabled.
- 4.
Confirm the public effect
After enabling the switch for Harbor Soho, open the public booking page from the displayed link or QR code. The public page accepts bookings only when the location belongs to the organisation, is not deleted, the subscription is not blocked, automatic reservations are available, and public booking is enabled.
Validations and limits
- Only an exact `true` value for `location.public_booking_enabled` is shown as Enabled. Missing, null, or false values are shown as Disabled.
- The switch is disabled without `location:manage` and while a save is in progress.
- If saving fails, the app shows Couldn't save and keeps the operator on the settings page.
- If automatic reservations are not available, the backend keeps public booking disabled even if an enable request is sent.
- This switch updates the location record through `PUT /api/app/{orgId}/locations/{locationId}`; it does not use a dedicated toggle endpoint.
- The update preserves public table preferences and guest warnings. It does not create services, calendars, slots, optimisation settings, or table rules.
- A Public URL or Reservation QR can be visible while publication is disabled; that does not mean guests can complete bookings.
Expected result
Harbor Soho's public booking channel is open or closed for guests, the settings page refreshes to the saved state, and the booking URL and QR remain available for sharing when the backend rules allow bookings.
