Create a Location Holiday Closure
Close the whole active location for a planned holiday period and keep the closure visible on the holidays calendar.
In this article
Use this guide when a manager needs to close Harbor Soho for a date range, rather than request time off for one staff member.
Antylogic records the closure as a `location_vacation` calendar event for the active organisation and location.
Before you start
- You are signed in with Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho selected.
- Your account has `vacation:manage` for Harbor Soho.
- You know the first and last dates of the closure.
- You have checked whether active reservations inside the closure range need to be cancelled or moved.
Instructions
- 1.
Open the holiday calendar
Open the holidays calendar for Harbor Soho and start the holiday creation flow. The create flow uses the shared holiday form, so the location closure is created by changing the form scope.
- 2.
Select whole-location closure
Choose the whole-location holiday closure option. In the current product capture this scope appears as `Cierre total por vacaciones`; once selected, the form represents `location_vacation` and should not show an employee selector.
- 3.
Enter the closure dates
Choose the start and end dates. The app submits the event as an all-day closure in Harbor Soho's `Europe/London` timezone, from 00:00 on the first day to 23:59 on the final day.
- 4.
Add optional notes
Use notes only for the operational reason, such as an annual summer holiday closure. Empty notes are allowed; when present, notes are saved as `payload.reason`.
- 5.
Save the closure
Save the form. Antylogic creates the event for the active organisation and location through the generic calendar events flow, then returns to the configured calendar route.
- 6.
Confirm it on the calendar
Return to the holidays calendar month view and confirm the closure is visible. For non-mutating documentation captures, use the seeded August 2026 Harbor Soho closure.
Validations and limits
- Saving requires `vacation:manage`; `vacation:view` can show the calendar but cannot create this closure.
- `vacation:request` is only for staff self-requests and cannot create a location closure.
- The start and end values must be valid dates, and the start must be before the end.
- Active reservations inside the range block the save with `error.calendar.location_vacation.reservations`; cancelled reservations do not block it.
- A `location_vacation` does not save `staff_id`, staff holiday status, or recurrence.
Expected result
Harbor Soho is closed for the selected date range, and the closure is visible as a location holiday event on the holidays calendar.
