Open Service Session
Open the active service for Harbor Soho so POS and KDS work in the same operating context. Use the closest eligible calendar service when it is available, or open a manual service when trading must start without a public calendar service.
In this article
A service session is the shared operating context for floor and kitchen work at Harbor Soho. POS and KDS read the same active session, so operators and kitchen supervisors work against one service.
Opening the service is only the service-start step. It does not open a cash register, create tickets, take payments, print jobs, or close an earlier workflow.
Before you start
- The user is signed in to Harbor Demo Group and working in Harbor Soho.
- The user has POS use access for the location, represented by tpv:use.
- Harbor Soho does not already have an open service session.
- For Closest service, Harbor Soho has a public service occurrence in the current-day candidate window.
- For Manual service, no public service occurrence is required; the system creates the supporting service context.
- For KDS, KDS is enabled in POS settings and the user has KDS access; opening still requires tpv:use.
Instructions
- 1.
Check The Starting State
Open Harbor Soho in POS or KDS and confirm that no active service is shown. If Active service is already shown, continue operating in that service or close it through the separate close-service workflow before opening another one.
- 2.
Open The Service Choices
From the POS floor screen, choose Open service. The modal offers Closest service when a nearby public calendar service is available and Manual service as the fallback. In KDS, open the service control modal to reach the same choice when KDS access and POS use access are both available.
- 3.
Open A Calendar Service
When Closest service is available, select it and confirm with Open calendar service. The service occurrence must belong to Harbor Soho and must resolve to a public service event.
- 4.
Open A Manual Service
When there is no suitable calendar service, select Manual service and confirm with Open service. Antylogic creates the operational service context for Harbor Soho behind the scenes, using the location timezone and available layout.
- 5.
Confirm POS Is Active
After the service opens, POS shows the active service state and the floor or ticket workspace is ready for the Harbor Soho team. Cash register opening, tickets, payments and print jobs remain separate actions.
- 6.
Confirm KDS Continuity
Open Harbor Soho KDS after the service has been opened. KDS should show the same active service context as POS, so kitchen work and POS tickets share the active service.
Validations and limits
- Only one open service session is allowed per location.
- A missing active service is treated as the normal no-active-service starting state.
- The POS page blocks users without tpv:use, and the backend open action also requires tpv:use.
- The closest-service choice is limited to nearby current-day public service occurrences; internal services are not eligible.
- Manual opening sends an empty payload from POS or KDS and creates the supporting event and occurrence in the same transaction as the session.
- The open response includes service session detail with the session, linked event, linked occurrence and billing summary.
- Opening a service session does not open cash, create tickets, take payment, print jobs or close a previous workflow.
Expected result
Harbor Soho has one active service session shared by POS and KDS. The service remains active until the separate close-service workflow closes it.
