How to close the till
Close the open till for the active TPV terminal by entering the final cash count, operator and notes. Antylogic recalculates expected cash, variance and the payment-method summary for the active service.
In this article
Closing the till records the cash position at the end of a service. The operator reviews the opening float, cash payments, non-cash payments and expected amount before committing the final count.
This flow lives inside the TPV service actions menu. It is not a separate cash-management screen, so the current organisation, location, active service and terminal must already be in context.
Before you start
- Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho are selected as the working organisation and location.
- The operator can access the location TPV screen.
- A service session is active at Harbor Soho, such as Soho lunch service.
- The current TPV terminal has an open `cash_register_session` for the active service.
- The active till detail has loaded, including expected amount, totals and payment-method breakdown.
- For screenshots or rehearsal runs, use the disposable GB documentation runtime because closing the till changes persistent demo state.
Instructions
- 1.
Open the TPV floor
Go to the Harbor Soho TPV floor screen. The close action is reached from the service actions menu, not from a standalone cash page.
- 2.
Open the cash register panel
Open the service actions menu and choose Cash Register. The panel shows the till for the current terminal with opening float, sales, cash payments, non-cash payments, expected cash, ticket count and payment-method breakdown when available.
- 3.
Review expected cash
Check the expected amount before counting the physical cash. Expected cash is recalculated as opening cash plus cash-like payments, so it can differ from total sales.
- 4.
Enter the final count
Enter the physical cash count in the final count field. The screen preloads this value with the expected amount when the active till changes. Add closing notes when the operator needs to explain a variance or service incident.
- 5.
Close the till
Submit the close action. Antylogic sends the selected staff member, final count and notes, then closes the `cash_register_session` with recalculated expected amount, closing amount, variance and UTC closing time.
- 6.
Confirm the recent closure
After a successful close, the screen shows the success message, clears the closing fields and refreshes till data. Open Recent closures to confirm expected amount, closing amount, variance, operator and notes.
Validations and limits
- If no organisation or location is selected, the TPV screen asks the operator to select a location.
- If the operator does not have TPV access for the location, the close operation is not loaded.
- If there is no open till for the current terminal, the panel shows the open-till form instead of close controls.
- The final count must be numeric and zero or greater.
- The application sends `POST /api/app/{orgId}/{locationId}/cash-register-sessions/{sessionId}/close`; the backend route also accepts `PUT`.
- The till must belong to the current location and still have status `open`.
- Voided tickets are excluded from the cash summary.
- Only payments with empty or `completed` status are included in the summary.
- A final count that differs from expected cash does not block closing; Antylogic stores the variance.
- The service cannot be closed while any `cash_register_session` remains open.
Expected result
The till is closed, recent closures show the expected amount, final count and variance, and the closed till no longer blocks closing the service session.
