Invite users to an organisation
Invite existing directory users to Harbor Demo Group from the organisation Users tab. Antylogic records each selected membership as invited, prepares an organization_invite notification, and refreshes the user list without creating accounts or assigning roles.
In this article
Use this guide when a person already exists in the user directory and needs access to the active organisation. The invite flow does not create a new account from an email address, and it does not assign roles or permissions.
The invite modal searches the directory only after a name or email search is entered. After submission, Antylogic stores the organisation membership as invited and avoids creating duplicate organisation invite notifications for the same user and organisation.
Before you start
- You are signed in with Harbor Demo Group selected as the active organisation.
- You are working from the organisation access area on the Users tab: organization/access?tab=users.
- Your account has users:manage for the organisation. View-only users can see the table but cannot send invites.
- The person to invite already exists in the directory and is not an internal-credentials identity.
- You know part of the user's name or email address so the invite modal can load directory candidates.
Instructions
- 1.
Open the Users tab
Open organization/access?tab=users for Harbor Demo Group and wait for the Users table to load. The Invite user action appears only when your account can manage organisation users.
- 2.
Open Invite user
Select Invite user. The Invite users modal opens with Search by name or email, selected and available counters, and an Invite (0) button that remains disabled while no user is selected.
- 3.
Search the directory
Enter part of the existing user's name or email address. The app trims the search, waits briefly, and then searches available directory users. Internal identities are excluded, and users already visible on the current table page are hidden from the candidate list.
- 4.
Select users to invite
Tick one or more directory candidates. The selected count updates and the button changes to the selected total, for example Invite (1). Review the selection before submitting because the backend upserts the organisation membership with invited status.
- 5.
Send the invitations
Select Invite. Antylogic sends the selected user IDs with status invited, closes the modal on success, shows Invites sent, and refreshes the organisation users table.
Validations and limits
- Invite user is only visible when the signed-in account has users:manage for the organisation.
- The modal does not query the directory while the search field is empty.
- Directory search requires users:manage and excludes internal-credentials identities.
- Invite stays disabled until at least one user is selected or while the submit request is running.
- The UI sends user_ids with status invited; direct API statuses such as accepted, remove, or an empty status are not part of this operator flow.
- The backend requires at least one non-empty user ID and each selected user must already exist.
- The organisation membership is inserted or updated in user_organizations with status invited, and organization_invite is created only if one does not already exist for the same user and organisation.
- Batch submission is processed user by user, so an error for a later user does not guarantee earlier processed users were rolled back.
Expected result
The selected existing directory users are invited to Harbor Demo Group with organisation membership status invited. No user account, role assignment, or permission assignment is created by this action.
