Expand Or Collapse A Docs Section

Use the section headers in the in-app Documentation sidebar to show or hide the article list for a docs section. The action only changes the current sidebar view; it does not edit docs content, change the selected article, update route parameters, or save anything to the server.

In this article

Use this guide when an operator, support user, or documentation reader needs to make a long Docs sidebar easier to scan while reading Antylogic guidance.

The selected article's section opens automatically, and Search Docs keeps matching sections open so visible search results are not hidden by a collapsed heading.

Before you start

  • You are signed in to the Antylogic app.
  • You are on the native app Documentation screen, opened from app navigation or with `antylogic://docs`.
  • The docs index has loaded from `/api/app/docs` and at least one section is visible in the sidebar.
  • No organisation or location needs to be selected for the Documentation route.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open Documentation

Open the Documentation screen from the app navigation or use `antylogic://docs`. Wait until the sidebar shows Docs, Search Docs, the article count, and at least one section heading.

  2. 2.

    Find The Section

Look below Search Docs for the section that contains the articles you want to review. If an article is already selected, its section is treated as open so the selected article remains discoverable.

  3. 3.

    Collapse An Open Section

Press an open section heading. The article links under that heading are hidden, the chevron returns to its collapsed orientation, and the article in the reading area stays unchanged.

  4. 4.

    Expand The Section Again

Press the same section heading again. The article links under that section become visible again and the chevron shows the open orientation.

  5. 5.

    Use Search When Needed

Type into Search Docs to filter the already-loaded article list. While search text is present, every matching section stays visually open, even if a section heading is pressed.

Validations and limits

  • Section controls appear only after the docs index has loaded and local filtering leaves at least one article in a section.
  • The toggle key is the exact `DocsSection.slug` value for the visible section.
  • Expanding or collapsing a section sends no payload, performs no backend validation, and does not call `/api/app/docs` again.
  • The action does not change `sectionSlug`, `articleSlug`, `articleId`, locale, platform, theme, organisation, or location state.
  • Search Docs is local to the loaded index and matches title, summary, `section_slug`, `action_id`, and `primary_keyword`; it does not send a `q` query to `/api/app/docs`.
  • While Search Docs contains text, matching sections cannot be visually collapsed even though pressing a heading can still update hidden local open-state.
  • Expansion state is not saved across app remounts, reloads, or navigation resets.
  • Implementation finding: a first press on a never-opened, non-selected collapsed section can write `false`, so that section may not visually open until the second press.

Expected result

The Docs sidebar shows or hides the article rows for the chosen section on the current device, while the selected article, docs content, route, and server state remain unchanged.
