Edit an Existing Floor Plan
Update an existing Harbor Soho floor plan, including its name, default status, editor geometry, zones, tables, table types and table combinations. Saving writes the complete floor plan structure, not a partial change.
In this article
Floor plans define how Harbor Soho runs the room: zones, tables, capacities, table types and grouped tables all feed reservation capacity and service operations.
Use this guide when an existing floor plan needs a controlled update. Review the full editor state before saving, because the update replaces the layout structure that is sent from the editor.
Before you start
- You are signed in to Harbor Demo Group and working in the Harbor Soho location.
- The floor plan already exists in the active location and has not been deleted.
- You can view layouts; layout management permission is required to save changes.
- The saved layout is complete: base layout, table types, zones, tables and combinations are all present and valid.
Instructions
- 1.
Open Floor Plans
Open the floor plans area for Harbor Soho and find the layout to update, such as Demo floor plan 1. The list shows the layout name, default status, table count, capacity and row actions.
- 2.
Open the Editor
Select Edit on the layout row. The app opens the layout editor with layout_id in the route and loads the current canvas, layout name, default flag, table types, zones, tables and table combinations.
- 3.
Review the Full Layout
Check the visual canvas, Editor panel, Default control, zones, tables, capacities, table types and grouped-table combinations before changing anything. If Save is not visible, the user is view-only or the editor is read-only.
- 4.
Make Valid Changes
Update the final floor-plan state that should remain active after saving. You can rename the layout, change whether it is the default, adjust table positions and sizes, edit table types, move tables between zones, change capacities and maintain valid table combinations.
- 5.
Save the Complete Payload
Select Save. The app validates the full editor state and sends the complete layout payload to the backend. The layoutId in the URL is the authoritative layout being updated.
- 6.
Confirm the Refreshed List
After a successful update, the editor shows the updated-layout confirmation and closes back to the floor plans list. The list and detail data refresh so table count, capacity and default state reflect the saved backend result.
Validations and limits
- With view-only access, the list or editor can load but editing actions and Save are not available.
- The layout name cannot be empty.
- There must be at least one zone and at least one table, and every zone must contain at least one table.
- Zone names and table names must be present and unique; table type names must be unique without regard to case.
- A table can use capacity 0/0 only as a supplementary table; otherwise minimum and maximum capacities must be positive and minimum cannot exceed maximum.
- A table can reference only a table type included in the same layout.
- Saved combinations must contain more than one table, have a valid zone, include tables from that zone and use a valid positive capacity.
- Saving is a full layout update. Any table type, zone, table or combination missing from the saved editor state is removed from that layout.
- If another active layout in Harbor Soho already uses the same name, the save fails with a conflict.
- If this is the only default layout and you try to unset Default, the backend keeps it as the default.
Expected result
The Harbor Soho floor plan is updated, the editor closes, and the floor plans list refreshes with the backend result. Future services continue using the updated layout; when past services already reference the layout, the system may preserve the old state through a historical snapshot.
