Open A Docs Assistant Source
Open a source title under a completed Ask in Docs answer to inspect the canonical public Docs article. The assistant panel closes immediately, and the article loads through the public Docs route without requiring an authenticated organization, location, or app role.
In this article
Use this guide when a public Docs reader wants to inspect the articles that supported a completed Ask in Docs answer. The source list is the set of context articles selected before the browser-local answer is generated, not model-parsed citation spans.
The action stays inside public documentation. The click uses the loaded article summary fields, navigates to the canonical /docs/{section_slug}/{slug} route, and then reloads the destination article through /api/public/docs.
Before you start
- Open public Docs through /docs, /manual, or /wiki. For English captures, use /docs/access/en-access-users-create-location-internal?lang=en.
- Wait until the public Docs index has loaded and at least one article summary is available, because Ask in Docs is mounted only when summaries exist.
- Use a browser where globalThis.LanguageModel is available. If the browser reports unsupported or unavailable, the assistant cannot generate the answer and source links for this action.
- Ask a Docs question and wait for a non-empty Local answer with Articles used source links.
- Use public Docs content only. This action does not use authenticated demo organization, location, staff, reservation, TPV, or catalogue records.
Instructions
- 1.
Open the English public Docs article
Go to /docs/access/en-access-users-create-location-internal?lang=en and wait for the article content and floating Ask in Docs button to appear.
- 2.
Open Ask in Docs
Select Ask in Docs to open the assistant panel. Confirm that the local AI availability message, question box, and Ask button are visible.
- 3.
Ask a Docs question
Enter a short Docs question, such as one about user access, and select Ask. Wait until the Local answer block is shown.
- 4.
Select a source title
Under Articles used, choose the source article title you want to inspect. The link opens /docs/{section_slug}/{slug} for the selected summary.
- 5.
Confirm the source article opened
Confirm that the assistant panel has collapsed and the destination public Docs article is open on the canonical /docs route. The article should show its title, summary, steps, validations, media when available, result, and related content.
Validations and limits
- Ask in Docs appears only after the loaded public Docs index contains at least one article summary.
- Source links are visible only when the assistant has a non-empty answer and at least one selected source summary.
- Each source link uses the summary section_slug and slug returned by /api/public/docs and opens the canonical /docs/{section_slug}/{slug} route.
- If the reader entered through /manual or /wiki, selecting a source still normalizes the destination under /docs.
- The source list represents selected assistant context articles, not guaranteed citation spans from the generated answer text.
- The source click closes the assistant panel immediately, but it does not clear the stored question, answer, error, or source state during the same component lifetime.
- The destination detail request reuses the current in-memory locale, platform, and theme parameters even though those values are not preserved in the visible URL.
- No authenticated /api/app/docs behaviour, app role, organization membership, location membership, or live demo data should be inferred from this public Docs action.
Expected result
The selected source article opens as a canonical public Docs article, and the Ask in Docs panel is collapsed. The page remains read-only and continues to load documentation through the public Docs API.
