Create an event from a calendar
Create services, private events, holidays, leave, blackouts and managed staff shifts from the calendar that matches the job. Antylogic carries the event type, seeded dates and return route into the right form for Harbor Soho.
In this article
Calendar event creation starts from the surface that matches the work: the general calendar, Services, Reservations, Holidays, Staff or My calendar. The active preset controls which event types can be created and where the operator returns after saving.
The Create action is permission-aware. Managers see only the event types they can manage; view-only access can show calendar screens but cannot save those event types.
Before you start
- You are signed in with Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho selected.
- The calendar route includes the organisation and location prefix, such as /:orgId/:locationId/calendars/create.
- Harbor Soho provides its Europe/London timezone. If a location has no timezone, the app falls back to UTC.
- Public services have a selectable layout and catalogue, such as Soho Menu. Internal services do not require a layout or catalogue.
- Staff holidays, leave, blackouts by role or staff, and staff shifts need staff records and, where relevant, staff roles.
Instructions
- 1.
Open the calendar
Use the general, Services, Reservations, Holidays, Staff or My calendar view. The active preset filters the event types that can be created and preserves the return context after a successful save.
- 2.
Start Create
Tap Create. If several permitted event types are available, choose one in the selector. If only one type is allowed, Antylogic opens that form directly. A direct create route with kind and preset parameters also opens the matching form.
- 3.
Check dates
Confirm the pre-filled start and end. A selected calendar range is converted in the location timezone. If the end is not after the start, only the start is kept. Services default to a three-hour duration when no end is supplied.
- 4.
Complete the form
Create a service with timing, recurrence, required roles and employee schedules; create a private event with guest and customer details; or use the holiday, leave, blackout and staff-shift forms for team operations.
- 5.
Save and return
Use the form action, such as Create service, Create event, Create holidays, Create leave, Block or Request holidays. On success, Antylogic refreshes calendar data and returns to the originating calendar with its mode and visible date when supplied.
Validations and limits
- The Create action is hidden when no creatable kind is available for the current preset and permissions.
- View-only permissions can show screens but block saving for the corresponding event type.
- Public services require a title, valid date range, layout and catalogue; internal services do not require layout or catalogue.
- Private events require a title, valid date range, positive expected guest count, and customer name and phone when creating a new customer.
- Holiday, leave, blackout and shift forms validate the required staff, role, scope and date fields, and keep the form open when conflicts or invalid payloads are returned.
- staff_schedule is not created directly from the calendar selector; it is created only inside a service bundle.
- location_vacation is created by toggling the staff holiday form to a full-location holiday, not by choosing a separate selector option.
Expected result
The event is created through the correct calendar creation path, calendar caches are refreshed, and the operator lands back on the calendar context they started from.
