Open Event Details

Open the correct destination from a calendar item in Harbor Soho: an editable event form for managers, a read-only event detail for view-only operators, or the reservation occurrence detail when selecting a service from the Reservations calendar.

In this article

Calendar items can lead to different operational destinations depending on where the operator starts. The same Soho lunch service opens as setup detail from the Services calendar, but opens as live service operations from the Reservations calendar.

This guide explains the routing and permission rules so managers, reservation operators and front-of-house teams know what to expect before selecting an event.

Before you start

  • The operator is signed in with an active organisation and location, for example Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho.
  • A contextual calendar route is open under `/:orgId/:locationId/...`.
  • At least one visible `calendar_event` or service occurrence exists in the selected calendar range.
  • The operator has view permission for the selected calendar preset. Management permission is required only when the event should open editable.
  • To open a reservation occurrence detail, the operator has `reservation:view` or `reservation:manage`.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open the relevant calendar

Start from the calendar surface that matches the work being done: the general calendar, Services, Reservations, Vacations, Staff or My calendar. In the GB demo, Harbor Soho uses the Soho lunch service around `2026-06-02T12:30:00+00:00`.

  2. 2.

    Select a calendar item

Click or tap the event card. The app decides the destination from the current surface and the event kind. In the Reservations calendar, selecting a `service` opens the reservation occurrence detail; selecting a `private_event` opens the normal event detail; selecting `location_vacation` does not navigate.

  3. 3.

Review or edit a calendar event

When the destination is a normal event detail, `LocationCalendarEventEdit` opens. Operators with the matching management permission can edit the form. Operators with view-only access see a read-only detail, and `staff_schedule` always opens read-only from this action.

  4. 4.

    Open the service operation detail

From the Reservations calendar, selecting the Soho lunch service opens `LocationReservationOccurrenceDetail`. This operational view loads the service occurrence together with reservations, waitlist context, table assignments, customers and open service-session data.

  5. 5.

    Return to the source calendar

Use the back action to return to the original calendar context. When return parameters are present, the app preserves the source route, calendar mode and date so the operator returns to the same planning view.

Validations and limits

  • Calendar ranges require valid `from` and `to` dates, and `to` cannot be earlier than `from`.
  • The selected event must belong to the active Harbor Soho location and the operator must have the view permission for that event kind.
  • Editable access depends on the management permission for the event kind, such as `service:manage`, `vacation:manage`, `staff-leave:manage`, `vacation-blackout:manage` or `staff-shifts:manage`.
  • Reservation occurrence details require `reservation:view` or `reservation:manage`, and the occurrence must belong to the active location with a linked `service` event.
  • If a selected service has no occurrence ID, the app may resolve or materialise one from `event_id`, `occurrence_start`, `starts_at` and `ends_at` before navigating.
  • `returnMode` is only honoured for `day`, `week`, `month` or `year`; other values are ignored.

Expected result

The operator lands on the right destination for the selected calendar item, with editing, read-only access or reservation operations determined by the calendar surface, event kind and permissions.
