View the Vacation Calendar
Use the Vacations calendar to review vacation blackouts, staff vacations, staff leave and full-location vacation closures for Harbor Soho in one location-scoped planning view.
In this article
The Vacations calendar is an operational planning view for one location. It filters the calendar down to vacation-related layers so managers can spot closures, holiday requests, leave and blackout periods before making staffing decisions.
This guide uses the GB demo context, Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho. The page can be read by users with view access to at least one vacation layer, while creation controls and the Vacation requests list appear only for managers with the right permissions.
Before you start
- Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho are selected in the app context.
- Harbor Soho has its Europe/London timezone configured; if a location has no timezone, the calendar falls back to UTC.
- The operator can view at least one relevant layer: vacations, staff leave or vacation blackouts.
- Managers with vacation management permission may also see Create controls and the Vacation requests list.
Instructions
- 1.
Open Vacations
From the location workspace, open Calendars > Vacations. The page opens the location-scoped vacation calendar and normally uses Month mode when no other valid mode is supplied.
- 2.
Review the calendar layers
Read the page as a filtered operational view. It shows vacation blackouts, staff vacations, staff leave and full-location vacation closures only. Staff vacation and leave entries use staff data so the operator can identify the employee.
- 3.
Change the date range
Use Day, Week, Month or Year mode and the date navigation controls to inspect the relevant planning period. Refreshing the page or returning focus reloads staff and calendar events for the visible range.
- 4.
Interpret event types
Use the labels and colours to understand operational impact. Vacation blackouts are black, requested staff vacations are yellow, accepted or rejected staff vacations are grey, location vacations are grey and staff leave is red.
- 5.
Open details
Select an event when you need to inspect it. If the user can view but cannot manage that event kind, Antylogic opens the detail screen in read-only mode.
- 6.
Use the requests list
When vacation management permission is available, use the Vacation requests list button to review pending staff vacation approvals. The button keeps the current calendar mode and date context.
Validations and limits
- If the organisation or location context is missing, the page shows that the requested location was not found and does not load events.
- The route accepts only mode, startDate and firstVisibleDate for this action.
- Valid modes are day, week, month and year; any other value falls back to month. Invalid startDate or firstVisibleDate values are ignored.
- The API returns only event kinds the current user is permitted to view. If no requested kind is visible, access is denied.
- This route does not send staff_id, payload_status or payload_statuses, so it is not a staff-filtered or status-filtered view.
- Recurring events are expanded for the visible range. Cancelled overrides, non-visible events and operationally excluded staff vacation proration events are not shown.
- The standard GB demo seed does not include a staff_leave event, so staff leave should not be claimed in captures unless a runtime-only documentation event is created and logged.
- The side navigation entry does not include staff-leave-only permissions, although direct screen access can allow staff-leave viewers.
Expected result
The operator gets a location-scoped vacation planning calendar for Harbor Soho, with permitted vacation-related events loaded, staff context visible where available and management-only request controls kept separate from the consultation workflow.
