How to delete a product

Remove one product from an organisation or location catalogue scope. The product is permanently removed from active catalogue composition, while Antylogic preserves historical catalogue snapshots when past or versioned services still need the old catalogue state.

In this article

Product deletion is a destructive catalogue action. Use it when a product should no longer be available in the active menu for Harbor Demo Group or Harbor Soho.

The location Products list can show both location products and organisation products, so check the product scope before deleting. Antylogic chooses the location or organisation delete action from the product itself.

Before you start

  • You are signed in with Harbor Demo Group selected; for location-level work, Harbor Soho is also selected.
  • Your role has `catalog:manage` for the scope where the product belongs. `catalog:view` can open the list or detail view but cannot delete.
  • The product exists in an editable organisation or location scope and is not a system product.
  • The detail screen is in edit mode, not create, copy, read-only, or historical view.
  • For documentation captures, use a temporary runtime product. Do not delete seeded demo products such as Cheddar and leek soup, Fish and chips, or Sticky toffee pudding.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open the Products area

Go to the Products tab from the Harbor Soho location catalogue area or from the Harbor Demo Group organisation catalogue area. Check that the row belongs to the scope you intend to edit.

  2. 2.

    Choose the product to remove

Use the row action menu and choose Delete, or open the product detail page and use the Delete button at the bottom of the form. For documentation, choose a temporary product created for the capture run.

  3. 3.

    Review the confirmation modal

Antylogic opens a destructive Delete Product confirmation. Check the product name in the message before continuing. Cancel closes the modal and leaves the product unchanged.

  4. 4.

    Confirm deletion

Confirm only when the product should be removed from active catalogue use. Antylogic deletes the product record and removes its catalogue, allergen, and specification links. If a linked catalogue is still needed by past or versioned services, a catalogue snapshot is frozen before the product is removed.

  5. 5.

    Verify the Products list

After success, return to or refresh the Products list and confirm the temporary product no longer appears. If the deletion started from the detail form, Antylogic clears the detail query and sends the operator back to the list.

Validations and limits

  • The delete action requires `catalog:manage`; view-only users should see the action hidden or disabled before confirmation.
  • The product must belong to the writable scope. An organisation product shown in a location list is deleted through the organisation scope, not the location endpoint.
  • A successful delete returns `204 No Content` and refreshes the Products list.
  • If snapshot preparation fails, the product is not deleted.
  • Product deletion is physical for `products`; there is no documented restore action.
  • The UI does not show a TPV or ticket impact preview before deletion. Existing ticket item references may be set to null by the database rule.

Expected result

The temporary product is gone from active catalogue composition, related product links are cleared, and historical services keep their preserved catalogue snapshot when one is required.
