Edit catalogue

Update an existing catalogue such as Soho Menu at Harbor Soho: change its name, image, default status, included products and product type order while preserving historical catalogue versions used by past services.

In this article

Catalogue editing keeps the restaurant menu used in day-to-day operations current: which products are available, how they are grouped by type, and which image represents the catalogue.

When a catalogue is already linked to versioned services, Antylogic keeps the previous version available for past service records while the edited catalogue is used going forward.

Before you start

  • You are signed in to Antylogic with Harbor Demo Group selected.
  • For a location catalogue, Harbor Soho is the selected location.
  • Your role includes `catalog:manage` for the relevant organisation or location scope; users with `catalog:view` can inspect the catalogue but cannot edit it.
  • The catalogue exists, belongs to the current editable scope, and is not deleted or system-owned.
  • Selected products and product types belong to the exact same scope as the catalogue.
  • If you change the image, the file upload finishes successfully before you save the catalogue.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open the catalogue

Go to the Catalogues tab and open the catalogue you want to maintain. In the GB demo, use Soho Menu for Harbor Soho.

  2. 2.

    Update the main details

Review Name, Default and Image. The name is required. If you choose a new image, wait for the upload to complete before saving.

  3. 3.

    Choose included products

Tick or untick the products that should belong to the catalogue. Use the product table filters to find items such as Cheddar and leek soup, Beef pie or Sticky toffee pudding.

  4. 4.

    Check product type order

Review Product type order. Antylogic derives these types from the selected products, such as starters, mains, desserts and drinks, and lets you order them while the catalogue is editable.

  5. 5.

    Save the changes

Select Save. If the update is valid, Antylogic confirms the change, refreshes the catalogue data and returns to the catalogue list.

Validations and limits

  • Save is disabled when there are no changes, when the name is blank, while an image upload is pending, or while another save is in progress.
  • If there are no changes, no `PUT` request is sent.
  • `is_default=true` is valid for location catalogues but rejected for organisation catalogues.
  • Product and product type IDs are normalised before saving by removing empty values and duplicates.
  • Every selected product and product type must exist in the same exact scope as the catalogue.
  • Saving replaces the full `catalog_products` and `catalog_product_types` composition; it is not a partial relationship patch.
  • Read-only, historical, deleted and non-writable catalogues block product selection, drag ordering and saving.
  • Do not document icon editing or automatic uniqueness of default catalogues: the current UI does not expose icon editing, and the inspected update path does not verify default uniqueness.

Expected result

The catalogue is updated with its main details, products and product type order. If it was already used by versioned services, past service records keep a historical snapshot while future services use the updated catalogue.
