Manage table types

Create, edit, assign or remove table types inside a single floor layout. A table type is a layout-level name, optional description and colour used to label tables visually; changes are saved only when the full layout is saved.

In this article

Use this guide when Harbor Soho needs table labels such as Window tables, Bar seats or Standard tables inside one floor plan. Table types belong to the current layout only; they are not a catalogue shared across the whole location.

The table type form changes the editor draft first. Antylogic persists those changes only through the main layout save, together with zones, tables and combinations.

Before you start

  • The operator is signed in to Harbor Demo Group with Harbor Soho selected.
  • The operator can open layouts with `layout:view` or `layout:manage`.
  • The operator needs `layout:manage` to create, edit, delete or save table types.
  • The layout is active, belongs to Harbor Soho and is not opened as a historical read-only occurrence.
  • The full layout remains valid before saving, including its name, zones, tables, capacities and internal references.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open the layout editor

Open Layouts for Harbor Soho and choose an existing floor plan, create a new one, or copy the demo layout named `Manual docs copy`. Table types are managed inside the layout editor, not on a separate settings screen.

  2. 2.

    Open Table types

Open the side panel and select `Tipos de mesa`. The list shows only the types defined for the current layout, sorted by name. The layout can still be saved without table types if the rest of the layout is valid.

  3. 3.

    Create a table type

Select `Nuevo tipo de mesa`, enter `Nombre`, optionally add `Descripción`, and choose `Color`. For the GB demo, use a clear example such as `Window tables` with a description like `Window-side tables used for preferred seating`. Saving this form adds the type to the local editor state only.

  4. 4.

    Edit an existing type

Select a table type row or use Edit, change its name, description or colour, then save the form. The edited type remains part of the unsaved layout draft until the main layout save runs.

  5. 5.

    Assign the type to tables

Open `Mesas`, edit a table such as `B1`, and use `Tipo de mesa` to select the new type. The type then becomes a visual label and assignment reference for that table.

  6. 6.

    Delete a table type

Use Delete on the table type row and confirm `Eliminar tipo de mesa`. The editor removes the type from the local list and clears it from any tables that used it, but this deletion is still not persisted until the full layout is saved.

  7. 7.

    Save the layout

Select the main layout Save action. Creating a new or copied layout sends `POST /api/app/{orgId}/{locationId}/layouts`; editing an existing layout sends `PUT /api/app/{orgId}/{locationId}/layouts/{layoutId}`. In both cases, `table_types` are saved with zones, tables and combinations.

Validations and limits

  • `name` is required after trimming whitespace and must be unique within the current layout, ignoring case.
  • `description` and `color` are trimmed before use; if colour is blank, the editor applies the default table type colour.
  • A table may have no table type, but any `tableTypeId` must point to a type in the current `tableTypes` collection.
  • Deleting a type clears that type from tables locally to prevent invalid references on save.
  • There is no independent CRUD endpoint for `layout_table_type`; the full layout POST or PUT replaces the layout table type collection.
  • The full save also validates layout name, at least one zone, at least one table, table capacities, zones with tables and valid combinations.
  • Do not use the historical `occurrence_id` route for managing table types; it is read-only.
  • Capacity and shape belong to tables, not to `LayoutTableType`; the table type stores name, description and colour.

Expected result

The layout is saved with its table type set, and those types become available as visual labels and selector options for tables in that same floor plan.
