Configure Layout Zones
Create, adjust, or remove the zones in a Harbor Soho floor plan, then save the changes with the complete layout.
In this article
Layout zones divide the restaurant floor plan into operational areas. In the Harbor Soho demo, a manager uses the visual editor to draw a zone, select it from the canvas or the `Zonas` tab, and maintain its name, position, and size from the `Selección` panel.
Zones are part of the full layout. Saving commits the whole floor plan with zones, tables, table types, and combinations; there is no separate save for an individual zone.
Before you start
- You are signed in to the administrative app.
- Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho are selected in the navigation context.
- You have `layout:view` for the location to open the layouts area.
- You have `layout:manage` for the location to change and save zones.
- An editable floor plan exists, or the editor is opened in create/copy mode. In the GB demo runtime, use `SETUP_LAYOUT_SOURCE_LAYOUT_ID` for Harbor Soho.
Instructions
- 1.
Open the layouts area
Open the Harbor Soho layouts page and choose the floor plan you want to maintain. If the page is unavailable, the user needs layout access for the location.
- 2.
Open the editor
Open an existing plan, or open a new/copied plan for a separate draft. Read-only, historical, deleted, or non-manageable layouts can be viewed but cannot be saved.
- 3.
Create or select a zone
Use `Crear zona` to draw a valid rectangle on the canvas, or select an existing zone from the canvas or the `Zonas` tab. The `Selección` panel shows the fields used to maintain it: `Nombre`, `X`, `Y`, `Ancho`, and `Alto`.
- 4.
Rename, move, or resize the zone
Change the zone name, drag the zone, adjust `X` and `Y`, or use the size controls. When a zone moves, its tables move by the same offset; when it is resized, the editor keeps affected tables inside the resized area where possible.
- 5.
Delete a zone when needed
Select the zone, choose `Eliminar`, and confirm only when the draft should remove that zone. The editor removes the zone, its tables, and related table groupings from the local draft.
- 6.
Save the floor plan
Press `Guardar` to persist the complete floor plan. Existing plans are updated and new plans are created as full layouts, not as isolated zone records.
Validations and limits
- A drawn zone must be at least 160 wide and 110 high; smaller rectangles are rejected in the editor.
- Zone names must be present and unique within the floor plan, ignoring case.
- `X` and `Y` are saved as non-negative whole numbers, and the editor limits zone dimensions to 4800.
- A saved floor plan needs a non-empty name, at least one zone, at least one table, and at least one table in every zone.
- Tables must point to a zone that exists in the same floor plan payload.
- Table combinations must reference a zone and use tables from that same zone.
- Deleting a zone also removes its tables and related combinations from the draft before `Guardar` persists it.
Expected result
The Harbor Soho floor plan keeps its zones, tables, table types, and combinations consistent in one saved layout.
