Manage Zones

Create, select, rename, move, resize or delete rectangular zones in the Harbor Soho floor-plan editor, then save those changes with the complete layout.

In this article

Use this guide when a floor plan needs clear service areas such as Bar, Dining room and Terrace.

Zones are rectangular areas that contain tables. Moving, resizing or deleting a zone can also affect the tables and table combinations inside it.

Zone edits stay pending until the operator saves the whole floor plan.

Before you start

  • The operator is signed in with an organisation and location selected, for example Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho.
  • The operator has `layout:view` to open the floor plan and `layout:manage` to edit and save it.
  • The floor plan is opened in editable mode, not read-only, historical or deleted.
  • For documentation captures, use `layout_id=new&layout_copy_from_id=${SETUP_LAYOUT_SOURCE_LAYOUT_ID}&layout_name=${SETUP_LAYOUT_COPY_LAYOUT_NAME}` so the seeded source floor plan is not modified.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open the floor plan editor

Open the Harbor Soho layout from the Layouts screen. For documentation, open a copied layout so changes are isolated from the seeded demo layout.

  2. 2.

    Review existing zones

Use the canvas and the Zones tab to review the zones already defined in the copied floor plan. Selecting a zone centres the editor on it and opens its properties in Selection.

  3. 3.

    Create a zone

Choose Create zone in the toolbar, then drag on the canvas to draw a rectangle. When the drag ends, the editor creates a new zone, assigns a default name such as Zone N and selects it.

  4. 4.

    Edit the selected zone

In Selection, edit the zone name, X, Y, Width and Height. The operator can also move or resize the selected zone directly on the canvas.

  5. 5.

    Check table impact

When a zone is moved, its tables move by the same distance. When a zone is resized, tables are adjusted so they remain inside the zone boundaries.

  6. 6.

    Delete a zone

Use the delete action from the selected zone or from the Zones tab. Confirm only when the operator understands that the zone, its tables and related combinations will be removed from the pending layout state.

  7. 7.

    Save the floor plan

Press Save to persist all pending zone changes with the complete layout. Existing layouts use `PUT /api/app/{orgId}/{locationId}/layouts/{layoutId}`; new or copied layouts use `POST /api/app/{orgId}/{locationId}/layouts`.

Validations and limits

  • A newly drawn zone must be at least 160 by 110 canvas units.
  • Zone names are required and must be unique, compared case-insensitively.
  • X and Y are non-negative whole numbers. Width and Height use the minimum zone size and a maximum of 4800.
  • The floor-plan name is required, and the layout must contain at least one zone and one table.
  • Each zone must contain at least one table before the full layout can be saved.
  • Table combinations must use tables from the same zone.
  • Read-only, historical and deleted layouts are inspection-only for this action.

Expected result

The Harbor Soho floor plan is saved with the intended rectangular zones, table positions and related table combinations as one validated layout payload.
