Resolve an Exit with No Open Shift
Complete a clock-out when Antylogic cannot find an open shift by entering the missing Entry time, recording that Entry first, then recording the Exit and leaving the Entry as a correction to review.
In this article
Use this guide when a manager, supervisor or authorised staff member tries to record an Exit and Antylogic reports that no open shift exists for the selected staff member.
This is not a manual calendar edit. Antylogic handles the resolution through staff shift notifications: it creates the missing Entry, immediately records the Exit, and keeps the supplied Entry in the correction review trail.
Before you start
- You are signed in to Harbor Demo Group and working in Harbor Soho.
- Attendance is available through `staff-shifts:notify`, or through self-service for the staff profile linked to the signed-in user.
- The staff member exists at Harbor Soho and can be selected in Attendance, for example Olivia Hart.
- The first Exit attempt has no matching open `staff_shift` event for that staff member.
- Users who review the pending correction need `staff-shifts:manage`; that permission alone does not record the Exit resolution.
Instructions
- 1.
Open the staff attendance record
Open Attendance for Harbor Soho and select the staff member, for example Olivia Hart. Use this path only when you are trying to record an Exit for someone who does not already have an open shift.
- 2.
Start the Exit
Choose Exit, review the Confirm exit prompt and confirm it. Antylogic attempts to register the Exit with the selected time in the location timezone.
- 3.
Review the warning
If there is no open shift, Antylogic closes the confirmation prompt and shows the time correction warning. The warning explains that there is no open shift and that a correction will be created.
- 4.
Enter the missing Entry time
Enter the time the staff member actually started. If Olivia Hart started at 09:00 and is now clocking out, enter 09:00 as the Entry time.
- 5.
Save the correction
Select Save. Antylogic records the missing Entry first, then records the Exit. The Entry is marked as a correction request so an authorised manager can review it later.
- 6.
Check the pending correction
If you can manage staff shift corrections, open Attendance Corrections with pending items visible. The missing Entry should appear there for review.
Validations and limits
- The warning appears only after an Exit attempt fails with `error.staff_shift.missing_open_shift`.
- Cancelling the warning does not create an Entry or an Exit.
- The Entry time is required and must be a valid time; if it is later than the current time, Antylogic treats it as the previous day.
- Save sends the Entry before the final Exit. If the Entry fails, the final Exit is not attempted.
- The final Exit must be after the Entry, must not be in the future, and its day offset can only be `0` or `1`.
- The Entry and Exit are two separate operations; the analysis did not identify an automatic rollback if the Entry succeeds and the final Exit fails.
- In self-service, the flow only applies to the staff profile linked to the signed-in user.
Expected result
The missing Entry is recorded as a pending correction, the Exit is completed, staff shifts refresh, and managers with correction access can review the supplied Entry in Attendance Corrections.
