Request Own Holiday

Create a personal holiday request for the signed-in staff member at Harbor Soho. Antylogic saves it as a staff holiday calendar event with status requested, ready for manager review.

In this article

Use this guide when a staff member needs to request time off from My profile. The personal route opens the staff holiday form with the employee fixed to the signed-in staff member, such as Olivia Hart in the GB demo runtime.

Antylogic stores the request in calendar_events as kind staff_vacation. Approval and rejection happen later in the manager review workflow, not during this self-service request.

Before you start

  • The operator is signed in and has Harbor Soho selected.
  • The signed-in user is linked to a staff record at the selected location. In the GB demo runtime this is Olivia Hart.
  • The user has location permission vacation:request, or vacation:manage when using the same personal request route.
  • The form is opened in create mode for kind=staff_vacation with preset=mine or returnToMyProfile=true.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open The Personal Holiday Request

From My profile, use the Holidays area and choose Request holiday. The app opens the staff holiday form in the selected Harbor Soho context and keeps the employee field fixed to the signed-in staff member.

  2. 2.

    Enter The Holiday Dates

Set the start date and end date for the requested holiday. The request is stored as an all-day absence in the Harbor Soho timezone, Europe/London, with the start normalised to 00:00 and the end to 23:59.

  3. 3.

    Add An Optional Reason

Use notes only when the employee wants to give context. If notes are supplied, they are saved as payload.reason; if left blank, no reason is added and the calendar event description remains empty.

  4. 4.

    Submit The Request

Choose Request holiday. The app creates a staff_vacation calendar event through POST /api/app/{orgId}/{locationId}/calendar-events, sets payload.status to requested, refreshes calendar data and returns to My profile.

  5. 5.

    Handle Form Or Policy Blocks

If the user cancels, the app returns without creating a request. If submission is blocked, review the date range, selected location context, staff linkage, permissions, blackout periods and annual holiday allowance.

Validations and limits

  • The personal flow does not allow choosing a different employee.
  • A start date and end date are required, and the start must be before the end.
  • The saved record includes kind staff_vacation, staff_id, starts_at, ends_at, all_day, timezone and payload.status requested.
  • A request-only user cannot create the request as accepted or rejected; the backend resolves the user’s own staff record and forces requested.
  • Recurrence and total-location holiday closure are not part of this action.
  • A vacation blackout or annual allowance limit can reject the request even when the form fields are valid.
  • This action creates calendar_events with kind staff_vacation; it does not write to staff_vacations.

Expected result

The holiday request is saved as a requested staff_vacation calendar event for the signed-in staff member and enters the manager review queue.
