View the staff coverage calendar
Use the staff calendar to review Harbor Soho coverage by day, week, month, or year. Open it for Olivia Hart or without a staff filter to see staff-related shifts, service schedule assignments, staff holidays, leave, holiday blackouts, and location holiday closures when permissions allow.
In this article
The staff coverage calendar gives location managers and planners one operating view for team availability at Harbor Soho. It combines assigned work with the constraints that affect whether a service is properly covered.
For the GB demo, open the calendar around `SERVICE_OCCURRENCE_START` and use `STAFF_ID` to focus on Olivia Hart. Removing `STAFF_ID` keeps the same staff preset but shows the broader location staff calendar.
Before you start
- Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho are selected before opening the calendar.
- The operator has at least one location permission that allows the staff calendar page to load, such as staff schedule, staff shift, holiday, staff leave, or holiday blackout view access.
- To show one member of staff, open the route with a `staffId`. In the GB demo, `STAFF_ID` resolves to Olivia Hart.
- For capture work, anchor the calendar near `SERVICE_OCCURRENCE_START` so the view is aligned with the Soho lunch service week.
Instructions
- 1.
Open the staff calendar
From the location calendar navigation, open `calendars/staff/${STAFF_ID}?mode=week&startDate=${SERVICE_OCCURRENCE_START}` for Olivia Hart. To review the whole location staff preset, open `calendars/staff` with the same mode and date but without `STAFF_ID`.
- 2.
Choose the planning range
Use the Day, Week, Month, and Year controls to change granularity. Use Today, range navigation, or a date change to move through the calendar; the app keeps the chosen mode and visible date in the route where supported.
- 3.
Read coverage and availability constraints
Treat the calendar as a coverage view. Staff shifts and service schedule assignments show expected work. Staff holidays, leave, location holiday closures, and holiday blackouts show constraints that affect planning.
- 4.
Compare filtered and unfiltered views
In Olivia Hart's filtered calendar, the app keeps her personal staff events plus shared location holiday closures and any holiday blackouts that apply to her or her role. The unfiltered staff calendar shows staff-related items across the location.
- 5.
Open an event for details
Select a visible calendar item to inspect it. The detail screen preserves the return context, including the staff preset, staff filter, mode, start date, and first visible date. Items without the relevant management permission, including `staff_schedule` from this calendar, open in read-only mode.
- 6.
Refresh or recover from an empty view
Use refresh after returning to the calendar or changing the planning range. If a filtered view is empty, confirm that the date range contains applicable events for that staff member and that the operator has view permissions for the returned event kinds.
Validations and limits
- The route accepts `staffId`, `mode`, `startDate`, and `firstVisibleDate`; only `day`, `week`, `month`, and `year` are valid modes.
- If no organisation or location is selected, the page shows a missing-location state and does not request calendar events.
- If the operator lacks permission for the staff preset, the page shows a permission message before querying events.
- The staff preset shows exactly `staff_shift`, `staff_schedule`, `staff_vacation`, `staff_leave`, `vacation_blackout`, and `location_vacation`; it does not expose a manual event-type selector.
- With `staff_id`, events for other staff members are hidden except shared location holiday closures and applicable holiday blackouts.
- Past `staff_schedule` and `vacation_blackout` entries are hidden in staff calendars, while staff shifts, staff holidays, and staff leave can still appear when returned by the range.
- The app first reads `/api/app/{orgId}/{locationId}/calendar-events/feed` and falls back to `/api/app/{orgId}/{locationId}/calendar-events` for recoverable feed failures.
- Viewing this calendar does not create, edit, or delete records.
Expected result
The operator has a planning view of Harbor Soho staff coverage for the selected period, either scoped to Olivia Hart or unfiltered across the location. The workflow is read-only unless the user opens a manageable event detail from the calendar.
