How to View the Vacation Calendar

Use the vacation calendar to review staff holiday requests, approved holidays, staff leave, location closures, and blackout periods for Harbor Soho in one month view. Opening or editing an event depends on the operator's permissions for that event type.

In this article

The vacation calendar is the review surface for holidays and absences. It brings employee vacations, staff leave, location closures, and blackout periods into one calendar so managers can see coverage before they move into request handling or editing.

In the GB demo, use Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho. The month view is the safest default for documentation captures because it shows the vacation preset, colour-coded events, date controls, and the manager shortcut when the user has `vacation:manage`.

Before you start

  • You are signed in to Antylogic with an organisation and location selected.
  • Use Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho for the GB demo runtime.
  • You have at least one location permission that can open the calendar: `vacation:manage`, `vacation:view`, `staff-leave:manage`, `staff-leave:view`, `vacation-blackout:manage`, or `vacation-blackout:view`.
  • To see the vacation requests shortcut and pending-request count, you need `vacation:manage`.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open the calendar

Open Calendars > Vacations, or go directly to `calendars/vacations`. The GB capture route is `antylogic://${ORG_ID}/${LOCATION_ID}/calendars/vacations?mode=month`.

  2. 2.

    Review the month

Use the month view to scan coverage for Harbor Soho. The vacation preset includes `vacation_blackout`, `staff_vacation`, `staff_leave`, and `location_vacation`, and it does not expose a manual event-type filter.

  3. 3.

    Read event types

Staff vacations and staff leave use the employee name and avatar, such as Olivia Hart, Mason Reed, Noah Stone, or Ava Price. Location vacations use the location identity. Blackout periods show their base title, such as Peak season blackout.

  4. 4.

    Open an event

Select an event to inspect it. Matching management permission opens an editable detail; otherwise the app opens the read-only detail for that event.

  5. 5.

    Move to requests when available

If the header shortcut is visible, open the vacation requests list from the calendar. The app carries the current mode and date context into `LocationVacationsRequests` with `pending_only=false`; request handling belongs to the requests action.

Validations and limits

  • The screen needs a selected organisation and location; missing location context shows the location-not-found state.
  • If the operator has none of the accepted calendar permissions, the app shows that they do not have permission to view the calendar.
  • Only `day`, `week`, `month`, and `year` are accepted `mode` values; invalid `startDate` or `firstVisibleDate` values are ignored.
  • The vacation preset shows exactly `vacation_blackout`, `staff_vacation`, `staff_leave`, and `location_vacation`.
  • Returned events are filtered by per-type view permission: `staff_vacation` and `location_vacation` use `vacation:view`, `staff_leave` uses `staff-leave:view`, and `vacation_blackout` uses `vacation-blackout:view`.
  • Vacation blackouts are black, staff leave is red, requested staff vacations are yellow, and non-pending staff vacations or location vacations are grey.
  • Opening an editable event requires the matching management permission: `vacation:manage`, `staff-leave:manage`, or `vacation-blackout:manage`; otherwise the detail opens read-only.

Expected result

Harbor Soho's holiday coverage is visible in one calendar, with permissions controlling which event types appear and whether a selected event opens as editable or read-only.
