Manage output devices

Configure the printer-style output devices used by POS routing at Harbor Soho. Operators can create a receipt-printer output device or edit an existing non-KDS device, set driver and connection details, enable or disable it, and optionally restrict it to selected terminals.

In this article

Use the Printers tab in TPV settings to review, create and edit the output devices available to the active Harbor Soho location. The list shows configured devices, their driver or transport, allowed terminal labels and active state.

This guide is limited to printer-style POS output devices. Current evidence does not prove operator management of KDS output devices, and the app-native form does not expose user restrictions as an editable field.

Before you start

  • Harbor Demo Group and the Harbor Soho location are selected.
  • The operator has location-scoped `tpv:manage` permission to create or update output devices.
  • For editing, the selected output device exists in the current Harbor Soho location.
  • The Harbor Soho terminal list is available if the device should be limited to specific terminals.
  • For network drivers, the operator knows the printer host name or IP address before saving.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open printer settings

Open POS settings for Harbor Soho and select the Printers tab. Review the configured printers and outputs, including device name, driver or transport, allowed terminals and active status.

  2. 2.

    Create or edit a device

Choose the new-device action to create an output device, or edit an existing row. Create mode starts as an active receipt printer, while edit mode loads and preserves the existing device kind.

  3. 3.

    Fill in device details

Enter the device name, optional code, driver type, active state and terminal restrictions. Leave allowed terminals empty when the device should be available to every terminal, or select terminals when routing should be limited.

  4. 4.

    Complete connection fields

For network printer drivers such as `escpos`, `star_graphic`, `star_prnt` or `zpl`, enter the network host or IP address. For ZPL devices, fill label dimensions only when the device requires them.

  5. 5.

    Save the device

Save the form. Antylogic validates the values, stores the output-device configuration, refreshes output-device and POS settings data, shows a success message and returns to the previous settings screen.

Validations and limits

  • Saving requires location-scoped `tpv:manage`; view-only users can inspect details but cannot save changes.
  • Name is required before the form can be saved.
  • Network printer drivers require a host name or IP address.
  • Allowed terminals must belong to the current Harbor Soho location.
  • Create mode does not expose a device-kind selector and defaults to `receipt_printer`.
  • Do not present this guide as KDS output-device management; current create and update paths reject `kds` device and driver values.
  • Do not document user restrictions as a current operator-facing field; the app-native form sends `allowed_user_ids: []`.
  • Do not document `escpos_matrix` as usable; current save logic rejects it.
  • Saving confirms configuration only; it does not prove that a physical printer, USB bridge or KDS runtime processed output.

Expected result

Harbor Soho has an updated POS output-device configuration for printer-style routing. Output-device lists and TPV settings refresh so downstream POS preferences use the current active devices and terminal restrictions.
