Reorder Products

Move a product line within an active TPV ticket by dragging it to a new position. The app previews the order while dragging, then saves the affected line positions through `ticket_item.sort_order` without changing quantities, prices or totals.

In this article

Use this guide when floor staff need to tidy the product sequence in a live Harbor Soho ticket before reviewing, printing or continuing service.

Reordering is a drag-and-drop action in the ticket product list. It is available only when the ticket is active, mutable and has at least two visible product lines.

Before you start

  • The operator can open Harbor Soho in the TPV with `tpv:use` access.
  • A current ticket is selected and contains at least two visible product lines.
  • The selected ticket is not void and not closed in the interface.
  • If an affected product line has a discount, the operator also has `tickets:manage` or `tpv:discount`.
  • For the GB demo capture, use `TPV_TICKET_ID` with `TPV_TERMINAL_ID` and `TPV_STAFF_ID`, then confirm the ticket has two or more reorderable lines.

Instructions

  1. 1.

    Open the ticket

From the TPV floor, open the active ticket that needs its products reordered. In the demo runtime, use Harbor Soho with Olivia Hart and the ticket identified by `TPV_TICKET_ID`.

  2. 2.

    Drag a product line

Press a product row and drag it vertically within the ticket list. The list shows a local preview of where the row will land before the change is saved.

  3. 3.

    Drop it into place

Release the row in the intended position. Dropping in the same position or outside a valid target does not send an update.

  4. 4.

    Check the saved order

Confirm that the products remain in the intended sequence after the ticket refreshes. The save is silent, so the operator should not expect a success toast for each updated line.

Validations and limits

  • Dragging is only available when the visible ticket list has more than one product line.
  • A pure reorder should not change quantities, prices, tax or ticket totals.
  • Moving one line across several positions can save several affected product lines one after another.
  • If saving fails, the interface restores the previous order and shows the configured error.
  • Do not document product editor up/down controls for this action; the documented interaction is row drag and drop.

Expected result

The ticket product lines remain in the new visible order, and that order is persisted through `ticket_item.sort_order`.
