Manage POS terminals
Create or edit a POS terminal for Harbor Soho, keeping its identity, platform, active state, employee access behaviour, product display options, quick mode, quick payment methods and default output devices aligned with how that terminal is used in service.
In this article
Use this guide when a Harbor Soho manager needs to add a POS device or update an existing till, tablet or service terminal.
Terminal setup controls the saved device record and its terminal-specific behaviour. Location defaults still apply whenever a terminal preference is left to inherit.
Before you start
- Harbor Demo Group and Harbor Soho are selected in the app context.
- The operator can open POS settings with tpv:view or tpv:manage. Saving changes requires tpv:manage.
- To edit a terminal, the terminal record already exists in Harbor Soho.
- To set terminal-specific quick payments or output devices, active compatible payment methods and output devices already exist for Harbor Soho.
Instructions
- 1.
Open the terminal list
Open POS settings for Harbor Soho and select the Terminals tab. The table shows the configured terminals, including name, code, platform, device or app version when present, and active status.
- 2.
Choose create or edit
Select New terminal to add another device, or edit an existing terminal to update its setup. Create mode starts with an empty name and code, Android selected, active status enabled, and POS behaviour inherited from the location settings.
- 3.
Enter terminal identity
Fill the terminal name, optional code, platform, optional device name, optional app version and active state. Use a name staff can recognise during service, such as a counter, bar or handheld terminal.
- 4.
Set terminal behaviour
Choose whether employee access, product images and quick mode inherit from Harbor Soho's POS settings or use a terminal-specific override. Choosing Inherit removes the terminal override.
- 5.
Set quick payments and outputs
Optionally choose terminal-specific quick payment methods and default output devices. The selectors show only active payment methods and output devices that are compatible with the current terminal.
- 6.
Save the terminal
Save the form when details and preferences are ready. Antylogic saves terminal identity and capability changes on the terminal record, then saves quick payment and output preferences to POS settings when those preferences changed.
Validations and limits
- The terminal list loads for operators with tpv:view or tpv:manage; New terminal and edit actions require tpv:manage.
- Name is required before the terminal can be saved.
- Platform must be ios, android, web, windows, macos or linux.
- Code is normalised to a lowercase slug and must be unique inside Harbor Soho.
- Terminal behaviour overrides are stored in terminal capabilities, but the current UI uses controlled fields rather than a raw capabilities JSON editor.
- Primary and secondary quick payment methods must be different.
- Selected payment methods and output devices must belong to Harbor Soho and be available to the terminal.
- Clearing quick payment or output preferences removes the terminal-specific row so the terminal falls back to location defaults.
- Terminal IDs are location-scoped; an ID from another location is treated as not found.
- This guide excludes terminal deletion and current-device registration, which are separate actions.
Expected result
The POS terminal is created or updated for Harbor Soho. Terminal-specific quick payment and output preferences are saved only when changed, and the operator returns to POS settings after the saved confirmation.
